Routing Assistant reached version 1.7
Published on Thursday, March 21, 2013
Routing Assistant, our free extension for Visual Studio which makes working with ASP.NET routes a funny thing, finally reached version 1.7!
This release brings several new features to the URL Mapper, the tool-window which allows to map a given URL to the ASP.NET routes of the active solution, without leaving Visual Studio. Apart from the performance improvements over the past versions, it can now capture and display the route matching details for every kind of routes of your projects - it was previously limited to attribute-based routes -, including the DataTokens and the Values.
Both the URL Mapper and the Routing Explorer UIs are now easier to see, while working with the Dark Theme in Visual Studio 2012: themes in the latest version of Visual Studio are a nightmare to work with because of the lack of documentation but we think we did a decent job here.
This version also brings several stability improvements; delving into the jungle of some COM private implementations to gather details about the currently-loaded solution in Visual Studio is a great adventure, which can lead to some risks from time to time. We fixed a couple of bugs and if you experienced some issues with the previous versions then we encourage you to update now.
Finally, from this version on, Routing Assistant will be directly available from the Visual Studio Gallery, with no more need for registering a Cobisi account. Of course, this means you can now install Routing Assistant directly from your favorite IDE (from Tools > Extensions and Updates > Online)!
Please let us have your feedback and, if possible, review and rate Routing Assistant in the Visual Studio Gallery. It will be the best reward for our hard work. :)
